Importance of Local Community
Austerity and scarce public resources mean that basic needs have become harder and harder to seek and secure over the last decade or so. Communities have also become more fragmented and loneliness and isolation are all too real for more and more people.
In my role as Chair of a new community focused charity Broxbourne Big Local I have particularly been focusing on the importance of belonging, this has led me to grow my interest in the importance of trauma informed communities. It is at this local level that so much can be achieved in terms of prioritising a relational approach and using scarce resources well.
