About Noelle

Noelle is a dramatherapist by training, she was the CEO of Respond between 2012 and 2023- a charity which provides psychotherapy and a range of trauma informed services for people with a learning disability, autism or both who have experienced trauma and their families.

In 2012 she completed a PhD focusing on understanding the bereavement experience of people with learning disabilities through psychotherapy. She is widely published. Her academic focus is the impact of trauma in the lives of people who have a learning disability, autism or both.

In 2019 she founded the charity Broxbourne Big Local and is the current Chair of the Board of Trustees. The charity’s vision is of “An integrated community with a strong sense of belonging that welcomes all and supports and strengthens the lives of every person in Broxbourne” . A key achievement has been preventing the demolition of Wormley Community Centre and securing the 999 year lease, following 4 years of consultation and negotiation with Broxbourne Borough Council .

The Centre is an important catalyst for bringing people together in all sorts of ways, enabling connections, relationships, growth through learning new things and overcoming challenges together.

Noelle is interested in making the concept of trauma informed communities a reality.
